Risk Mitigation

What is the definition of Risk Mitigation?

"A systematic reduction in the extent of exposure to a risk and/or the likelihood of its occurrence." Procuring material to support high reliability applications is becoming increasingly challenging with time constraints, obsolescence and authentication issues. We are advocating a three step approach to help with these concerns. Step One requires the Client to Dynamic Research and Laboratory Testing Services in Albuquerque New Mexico. define the severity of the final end component application. Step Two consists of a defined both Component Test Procedure and Validation Plan. Step three is the acknowledgement of the amount of Risk to be accepted by the client.

Granted we all would prefer to follow the US Government Industry data Exchange Program (GIDEP), the AS5553 -"Counterfeit Electronic Parts; Avoidance, Detection, Mitigation, and Disposition" standard, or the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association IDEA-STD-1010-A. Unfortunately, many of us cannot utilize an approved distributor, vendor, or seller due to Long life cycle product demands. This in turns forces us down the uncertain path of Component Risk Mitigation Testing Methodology. It is our contention that the term "Counterfeit Part Analysis" is better served via a Component Risk Mitigation Test Plan by utilizing existing Destructive Physical, Failure, Construction, Electrical Analyses practices.

At the "end-of-the-day" we can only operate between High to Low Risk ranges. Never will we have "Zero Risk" once we begin to traverse down the path of brokered parts.

Dynamic Research and Testing Laboratories, LLC (DRTL) is a testing and analysis company providing evaluation services of microelectronic devices. We are pleased to announce our new state of the art testing laboratories located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This testing facility provides the services needed to help navigate today's supply chain challenges. Services include physical evaluations (Optical, X-ray, uFTIR, CSAM…) electrical (ATE, Bench Test Equipment…) and environmental (HAST, humidity, temperature cycle…) testing.
